Glamorous Trumpet Shaped Wedding Gowns
If there is one gown silhouette that simply exudes glamor, it would have to be the trumpet shape. Very fitted on the top, clingy through the hips, and then finally full and frothy at the bottom, the trumpet style is one of the most striking for a bridal gown. These are some tips for brides who are considering glamorous trumpet shaped wedding gowns for their special day.
Every woman knows that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. For that reason, many brides want wedding gowns that will really make a dramatic statement from the moment they take their first step down the aisle. If you want your guests to have their breath taken away when they first lay eyes on you, a trumpet silhouette bridal gown might be exactly what you seek.
One of the best things about the trumpet shape dress is that it reveals all of a woman's sensual curves, yet rarely shows much actual skin. Most of the trumpet gowns are strapless, which actually is usually a fairly covered up neckline, revealing far less cleavage than many other styles. By its nature, this gown shape will also be fairly structured, meaning that while it may cling to curves, it has a substantial weight, unlike slinky silky gowns which can resemble lingerie more than wedding dresses.
There are different types of trumpet bridal gowns. The most dramatic are the ones which have a very defined seam (often embellished with a row of beading) where the fitted top meets the flared skirt. This allows for the bodice and hip to be very form fitting and for the bottom of the skirt to really explode into fullness. A wonderful style for a bride who wants a very impressive gown without a huge ballskirt, this style can work very well for a formal wedding. If you have your heart set on dancing the night away at your wedding reception, however, you would do well to choose a less restrictive style or to change into a second gown following the ceremony.
The other main type of trumpet wedding gown is one which is created without an obviously defined seam between the body and the skirt (though there may be a seam for structural reasons). These gowns are frequently created with ruffles or ruching which follow the entire contour of the dress, flaring out around the knee. A variation on this is a mermaid gown, which is a more slim silhouette. The mermaid bridal gown is essentially a sheath dress which kicks out towards the bottom rather than remaining straight. One of the nice things about a mermaid gown as compared to a sheath is that it allows for a more rounded and full train. To tone down the sexiness of a trumpet or sheath gown, select one in a demure fabric such as lace.
Such a daring form is not right for every bride of course. The trumpet gowns with the most dramatic skirts should really only be worn by tall women. On a petite bride, the low seam and puff of skirt at the bottom will make her look very chopped up and shorter than she is. Because the trumpet is very tightly fitted all the way through the hip, it is most flattering on brides who have a natural hourglass figure with a trim waist and flat stomach. If you are remotely self-conscious about the shape of your tummy, avoid the trumpet gown at all costs, because from the side view, a less-than-trim tummy will be very obvious.
Brides who do decide to opt for the glamorous trumpet shaped bridal gown should have fun and play up the drama of the style. A long veil is a must, as are fabulous Swarovski crystal earrings and accessories. When the gown makes such a statement, the other details must have plenty of wow factor, which is why a dramatic pair of Swarovski crystal earrings is so perfect. Finish off your look with flawless makeup and something striking in your hair, such as a large feather flower. The end result will be nothing short of stunning.
